A Nightstor boiler produces heat in a similar fashion to the Compact boiler, and was also designed and manufactured by GEC Engineering, and then manufactured by APECS. When the energy is depleted from the core in cold weather conditions, the element can be energised by boosting the storage core all by the touch of a button. When properly maintained these boilers are expected to last for many years, with some units in excess of 25 years old in a similar condition to their condition when installed.
